Mahamritunjay temple is devoted to lord Shiva, it is very important in the life of Varanasi. In this temple Shiva is worshipped in his form of Mritunjay ( It is believed that by worshipping Shiva one can win over his death ). Many people from all over the world come here for performing Mahamritunjay-path . There is a well into this temple , it is believed that Dhanvantari, the father of Ayurvedic medical-system pour all his medicines(jari-booty) in this well, So its water is so purify that many people daily come here to bring the water of this well.
